Working with our partners, we will provide equipment and financial aid to help the centre provide computer training and rehabilitation services. We will provide computers with talking software that can be tailored to each individual’s needs, such as SuperNova Magnifier and Screen Reader for partially sighted individuals, and JAWS Screen Reader for blind individuals.
Additionally, we will provide rehabilitation training; this will include sight guide techniques for outdoor mobility, and the introduction of using a symbol cane.
We will assist the centre in holding social events and sporting activities for blind children to provide a safe environment for them to play. As a result, we aim to provide a bus service to aid in transporting children directly from their homes to the centres to attend these events.
Furthermore, we will campaign through local and national media to raise awareness of the prevalence of sight loss and the need for special equipment for disabled people. We aspire to influence policy and decision making concerning the needs of disabled people.
Lastly, we will also provide equipment grants to enable people to further their education or to access work. For example, laptops with talking software.
